Oslo Nordic World Championships Only 141 Days to Go

October 06, 2010 (Oslo, Norway) – There are only 141 days until the main event for Nordic ski racers and fans this winter, the 2011 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo, Norway. Since 2006, when Oslo was elected as the host city of the 2011 Championships, the Organizing Committee has been working hard at planning and preparations.

This week, on 7th October, the Final Inspection by key people from FIS and other main stakeholders will take place in the capital of Norway. Immediately following the inspection, the Nordic Journalists will hold their annual seminar, the Forum Nordicum, to receive the latest updates and information for the upcoming season and visit the impressive World Championships facilities.

It is already clear for all that the 2011 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will be an exciting event. The organizing committee is expecting many spectators and many improvements have been included to serve everyone both inside the stadium and outside in the surrounding woods. In the Cross-Country stadium, a new grandstand was set with about 5000 places, whilst at Gratishaugen, a lot of space will be available. All in all, 27,000 spectators can be in the stadium (on sprint days 18,000) during Cross-Country events and about 15,000 Norwegians are expected to sleep outside in tents at the course.
