Pilot Project – New Altitude Training Center for Nordic Skiers to Open this Spring

release by Golden Alpine Holidays
April 1, 2008 – In anticipation of the 2010 Olympics near Whistler, BC – Golden Alpine Holidays is introducing a pilot project in hopes of bringing International Nordic Ski Teams to train at the Secret Valley High Altitude Training Site. The site will offer Nordic Skiing, on 100% natural snow, during the shoulder season months of Mid April to June and from October to Mid December.

The Secret Valley High Altitude Training Site sits at an elevation of 2200m and offers over 10km of skate and classic skiing trails groomed daily by our staff. The trails are located just outside the back door of the well appointed Sentry Lodge. The lodge is accessed by helicopter and features electricity, running water, indoor toilets, a fully equipped kitchen, wireless internet & a Finnish sauna!

The open and rolling terrain in Secret Valley allows us to create trails which can simulate the terrain of the 2010 Olympic racing loops – thereby offering specific event training in the off season.

We are situated in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains – 2 hours west the Canmore Nordic Centre World Cup venue in Canmore Alberta and 3 hours west of the Calgary International Airport.

Please review our Secret Valley High Altitude Training Site brochure here for additional information and photographs of the terrain and our lodge. For more information contact Golden Alpine Holidays at 250.344.7273 or visit our website www.goldenalpineholidays.com.
