“Since moving to Maine in 2006, the Olympic sport of biathlon has made dramatic progress in terms of athlete performance, as well as organizational development,” Ray Bourque said. “I joined the Foundation board because I have been inspired by the quality of the athletes and want to support them as they strive to get their first Olympic medal at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia. Proceeds from our first raffle will help ensure the team continues to have what it needs to compete – not only this year, but into the future as well.”

“The Portland Sea Dogs are dedicated to athleticism in the state of Maine,” said Bill Burke, US Biathlon Foundation trustee and Chairman of the Portland Sea Dogs. “Six of the nine members of the 2010 US Olympic biathlon team trained in Maine at the Maine Winter Sports Center, so there are natural synergies between our two organizations to support these outstanding athletes as they chase their Olympic dreams.”
