December 9, 2007 (Pinkham Notch, NH) – Great Glen Trails hosted the Atomic Sprints on Saturday, December 8 with a record turnout. Skiers from Dartmouth College won both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions.

Treated to a potpourri of weather: sunny skies, fast moving clouds, sporadic wind and periodic snow; 127 skiers raced laps around the Geepers Loop at Great Glen Trails. In sprint racing, racers are slotted into qualifying heats with all but the first skier eliminated. The race featured high schools, colleges and master skiers from around New England, plus a former Olympian.

In the Men’s Division, Pat O’Brien of Dartmouth College cruised to victory in the final over his teammate Nils Koons. Dylan Mogk of Bates College was fourth followed by Harrison Hark from the University of New Hampshire. On the women’s side, Dartmouth College’s Ida Sargent won a close final out dueling Marlijne Cook from the University of New Hampshire. The University of New Hampshire was well represented in the final with Sarah Wright and Natasha Kullas finishing third and fourth respectively. Both finals were completed just as darkness was falling in Pinkham Notch. The Junior Division, ages 15 and under, was won by Sean Doherty of Center Conway, NH.
