Recruitment to Competitive Skiing Initiatives

provided by the CCC

December 6, 2005 – CCC’s Coach and Athlete Development Committee has once again organized several initiatives through which CCC will partner with clubs across Canada, to introduce kids to the excitement and satisfaction of competitive skiing.

Ski Tournaments

The principal objective of a Ski Tournament program is to bring together elementary school age children for a memorable and enjoyable day of cross-country ski competition and fun. Other objectives include: (1) encouraging achievement through team effort; (2) encouraging good ski technique; and 3) encouraging participation from youngsters with a wide range of skill levels and ski experience. Each participant in a Cross Country Canada-sponsored Ski Tournament will receive a free, kid-friendly cross-country ski T-shirt.

Divisions with a bona fide “provincial” Midget Championships for elementary school age children are eligible for National Ski Team posters and mouse pads for each participant. If your division has a Midget Championship on it’s competition calendar, encourage your club to send a team. If your division does not offer this event, perhaps your club would consider hosting it.
