June 21, 2012 (Winchester, New Hampshire) – The Nordic community was sad to learn that John Frado, husband of Cross Country Ski Areas Association Executive Director Chris Frado, passed away last night after a lengthy process of rehabilitation following head and brain injuries sustained as a result of a fall from a barn roof at their home last December.

Frado had made excellent progress, overcoming several setbacks along the way, and was staying at his in-law’s home when complications continued that he was not able to withstand.

John was well loved and respected by the Nordic community both here and abroad and as a principal at the consulting firm Nordic Group International had a storied career that began in the early 1970s. His many accolades include a national award winning trail system and environmental education center at Northfield Mountain, Massachusetts.

A founder and Director Emeritus of the Cross Country Ski Areas Association Frado was instrumental in developing the National Ski Patrol’s Nordic Division.

He is survived by his loving wife Chris and SkiTrax joins the Nordic community in sending condolences to his family and friends. We will post updates on the funeral and other arrangements shortly.
