Sami Jauhojärvi Signs with Snowproof Racing

June 15, 2013 – The Austrian based Snowproof Racing presents the team’s line up for the upcoming season. A mix between experienced and well known skiers as well as some younger athletes should help the team to reach there goals.

By today the newly formed Snowproof Racing Team, a long distance cross country team based in Austria, presented the team’s line up for the upcoming season.


“After leading the team through a difficult season, it has been a clear goal to change the concept on a few sites as well as to find professional athletes from cross country interested countries in order to perform on a high level on all belongings. By today the team structures are updated and “ready to use”. says Team Director Marc Hager

While the team changed the number of athletes to 8, the quality of those skiers reached a new level and should guarantee training and participating on a high level with high goals in topic of results as well.

By today the team consists of following 8 Athletes, Sami Jauhojärvi (FIN), Martin Koukal (CZE), Martin Bajcicak (SVK), Manuel Hirner (AUT), Antti Lampinen (FIN), Riitta Liisa Roponen (FIN), Valentina Shevchenko (UKR) and Stephanie Santer (ITA).

“By signing Jauhojärvi, Lampinen and Hirner we fulfilled most of our wishes. We wanted to have athletes from a Scandinavian country which are well known in the scene as well as one athlete from Austria who should represent the teams nationality” adds Hager.

The team’s training throughout the whole summer in a professional training group at different training camps which should increase the level and quality of training once again.

“I’ve been in Italy together with the team by beginning of May. It has been a great time to train together and for sure a perfect start into the season. It has been real fun to do some long distance races last season. I had good conditions and everything worked fine. Now I’m looking forward to an Olympic season but anyway I’ve planned to do approximately 5 long distance races” says Roponen.

In addition to Roponen the team presents also two other skiers from Finland. One of them, Sami Jauhojärvi isn’t that experienced in long distance races but notes out his ambitions like following:

“This will be my first season in which I will do long distance marathons. We’ve planned to start in 3 to 4 marathon races with a special attention to the Ski Classics series. Together with a strong team we’re for sure aiming for some top results” says the Finnish classic specialist Jauhojärvi.

To complete a strong Finnish squad, the team decided to sign another skier from Finland who is Antti Lampinen, a pretty experienced marathon racer with high goals for the upcoming season.

“When I got the chance to sign with such a high class team there were no doubts for me. It has been always my goal to use professional service’s and for example coaches around me in order to improve my results” says Lampinen.

The skier who should represent the Austrian colours in the races was named as Manuel Hirner who states like this

“I raced a few world cup races the past years but had always ambitions to go into the long distance business. The team offered me good conditions which made the decision easier. Now I’m looking forward into a hopefully successful first marathon season” says Manuel Hirner.

Beside of the finish athletes in the team, there’s also a well known Finnish brand involved

Also former Czech world champion Martin Koukal looks positive into the new season. “There are different new things in the team and due to that I’m really looking forward to the upcoming training and racing season. In addition to the marathon races I will try to qualify for the 50k Olympic race” says Martin Koukal.
