Sasha Bergeron Joins Pierre-Harvey NTC Coaching Staff

release by the Pierre-Harvey National Training Centre
October 15, 2008 (Quebec City, Quebec) – The Pierre-Harvey National Training Center (PHNTC) is proud to welcome Sacha Bergeron to act as a full time assistant coach and wax technician. Last month, on September 15, Sacha joined the training centre with his vast experience, first as an athlete and, for several years already, as a wax technician. Sacha will work closely with Louis Bouchard, the head coach of the training centre in Quebec City. His primary responsibilities will be coaching the athletes in their choice of equipment and the preparation of skis.

Sacha has graduated from Laval University in Quebec City with a Bachelor degree in Software Engineering. Sacha was also a member of the Pierre-Harvey National Training center as an athlete from 1994 to 1998. He was selected on the junior national team and he raced at the World Junior Championship in Galliväre in Sweden. After ending his career as a competitive skier in 2002, Sacha quickly developed an expertise as a wax technician, which is recognized today as one of the best in Canada.

Mr. Bergeron has served as a wax technician with the PHNTC, part-time in 2006 for the Canadian Championships and the Selection races for the World Junior Championships. In the last two seasons, Sacha worked with the Canadian junior national team as a wax technician at the World Junior Championships in Tarvisio, Italy in 2007 and in Mals, Italy, in 2008. Let’s recall that during these last two world junior championships, athletes from the Pierre-Harvey National Training Center achieved the best junior results ever for Canadian cross-country skiers.

Sacha joins the team with the objective of contributing to the continuation of the PHNTC mandate of promoting athlete’s development and helping them reach their full potential to enable them to reach the Canadian national team. Sacha, we all wish you a warm welcome and the best success!
