March 4, 2007 (Humboldt, Saskatchewan) – One hundred and eight children age 5-13 from all over Saskatchewan took part in the CPR Tournament with Olympic Gold medalist, Beckie Scott on January 20th in Humboldt. We were honored to have Beckie Scott in attendance all day to sign autographs, mingle with the children and cheer them on. Children traveled from Pinehouse Lake, La Ronge, La Loche, Shellbrook, Humboldt, Saskatoon, Livelong, Grasswood, Regina, Rocanville, and Langenburg to take part in this awesome day. There were also many amazing volunteers who participated, making the day a huge success.

The day started off with registration, and the children had an opportunity to get an autograph from Beckie Scott. The children then separated according to age and rotated through three events throughout the day. The events consisted of relay races, individual sprint races and games. Children also had an opportunity to try sit skis. After the first event, everyone met in the public school gym to have lunch, watch a waxing demonstration and hear a short speech from Beckie Scott. Beckie also gave the children an opportunity to ask her questions, and she expressed praise over such a successful event.

Following lunch, the children participated in the last two events, and then headed back to the gym for the closing ceremonies. Participant ribbons were presented by Beckie Scott to all participants, and the winners of the sprints, relay races and best overall skiers were awarded. Draws for two sets of skis were also awarded to two children.

Following the closing ceremonies, the evening banquet was held in the Uniplex. The banquet consisted of a wonderful meal, a speech from Humboldt Mayor, Malcolm Eaton, a speech by Beckie Scott, a silent auction and music provided by ŒThe Horses Mouth‚. People bid on silent auction items donated by many organizations, and on a Beckie Scott banner. Proceeds of the silent auction were shared between the International charitable organization ŒRight to Play‚ and the Carlton Trail Ski Club to cover costs.

Beckie Scott won gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics in the five-kilometre pursuit, and a silver medal at the 2006 winter Olympics in Torino that she shared with Sara Renner in the team sprint event.
