March 04, 2011 (Oslo, Norway) – Austria’s Gregor Schlierenzauer took the gold with jumps of 130.0 and 134.5 meters besting his team mateĀ  Thomas Morgenstern on the 134-meter Holmenkollbakken jump with Switzerland’s Olympic gold medalist Simon Ammann claiming third.

American Peter Frenette from Saranac Lake, NY and Canada’s Mackenzie Boyd Clowes both qualified into the championship round. Frenette jumped 117.5 meters on his first round jump to finish 35th overall while Boyd Clowes with the same distance finished in 39th. Both did not qualify for the second jump.

“There was so much fog that it made it a little difficult,” said Frenette in a USSA release. “For my jump, I could only see right in front of me but that is about all you need to ski. It was fun and there were a lot of people here. You couldn’t see the crowd until you get down to the bottom, you could only here them cheering.”
