Sea to Sea to Sea School Program Introduced

November 15, 2008 (Canmore, AB) – Don’t miss out on your chance to bring the Olympic spirit to your school. Cross Country Canada invites school groups to join the Journey to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, proudly supported by Canadian Pacific. Students and teachers are encouraged to form teams and together ‘ski the distance’ to the Olympic site. Teams can be made up of a maximum of 5 members who will together ski a team total of 3,000 km over two years. Team members earn prizes each time their team achieves a 750 km contribution towards their 3,000 km goal.

School Team Prizes Include:
– Team Gold (3000 km) – Official Sea to Sea to Sea clothing
– Team Silver (2250 km) – Official Sea to Sea to Sea Cheering Cowbell
– Team Bronze (1500 km) – Official Sea to Sea to Sea Water bottle
– Team Achievement (750 km) – Official Sea to Sea to Sea Train Whistle

Teams who achieve a minimum of the “Team Bronze” level will also qualify for draw prizes. Prizes include but are not limited to CCC clothing, posters signed by Olympians or an invitation to a university xc training camp.

*To qualify for the Olympic Tickets grand prize, participants must join the club program.

Participants can log kilometres from November 1 to March 31 of each year. In the event that a region does not have snow during this time period; running, walking and roller skiing kilometres can be logged instead. Teachers can purchase registration packages here.

Registration packages are $30 and include materials for up to 5 teams to participate. Registration package includes: stickers for skis of all participants, logbooks to keep track of personal progress, wall map with stickers to map team progress and a login for Sea to Sea to Sea to track progress with other schools a cross the country. If a school has more than 5 teams, additional registration packages can be purchased from the same site.
