Secret Valley’s Spring Kickstart Program

release by John Bell/Golden Alpine Holidays
April 10, 2008 – This past weekend we re-opened the Secret Valley Trail system for our Spring Kickstart program. The course is just under 10 kilometers and can easily be expanded if necessary. Most of the course has been surveyed with two separate GPS units and elevations range between 2,050m up to 2,168m (118 vertical meters). The circuit offers almost every type of rolling and mixed terrain, some extended low angle climbs and a simulated Whistler finishing corner where athletes will enjoy honing their cornering skills. It’s one of the greatest and most inspirational tracks we’ve ever seen or had the pleasure of skiing on. This place has the potential to take athletes and recreational athletes to the next level and beyond.

Our trail crew consisted of a seasoned alpine guide (safety and course assessment), our new trail manager (Troy Hudson), helper Stan Prenioslo (who helped set up the Fall course), and myself. We had just under 10km groomed and ready for skating within 24 hours. After a few more passes Troy announced that Secret Valley was “ready for a World Cup”.

We have three meters of hard-packed natural snow and we’re open until late June with access to Dawn Mountains brand new groomer.

Please review our Secret Valley High Altitude Training Site brochure here for additional information and photographs of the terrain and our lodge. For more information contact Golden Alpine Holidays at 250.344.7273 or visit our website www.goldenalpineholidays.com.
