March 2, 2009 (Thunder Bay, ON) – New name, expanded event! Formerly the Sibley Ski Tour, the Sleeping Giant Loppet evolves as it celebrates 32 amazing years. This season, participants will still enjoy the expertly groomed trails and the spectacular scenery of Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, but with a few new twists and turns.

Families and recreational skiers can take part in the 10 km and 20 km distances, soak up the festive atmosphere, take in the live entertainment and savor the food offered by a variety of vendors. Serious competitors will be challenged by the 50 km course around Lake Marie Louise and over the Pickerel Lake and Burma Trails pursuing the $1,000 cash prize for the first place finisher in both the male and female categories.
