August 1, 2008 (Ottawa, ON) – Canada’s top biathletes’ drive to the podium kicked into gear thanks to a new official wax supplier, Biathlon Canada announced on Friday. Canmore Nordic Sport Services (Solda Canada), a national leader in providing Canadian Nordic athletes access to high-quality race wax, will supply the Canadian Biathlon Team with Solda race wax over the next two seasons.

“Canmore Nordic Sport Services will play a major in ensuring our athletes’ skis are fully prepared to perform at a high level,” said Joanne Thomson, executive director, Biathlon Canada. “Having skis ready to challenge all conditions is critical in our sport, and we are delighted to have access to world-leading wax like Solda on our team.”

Owned and operated by Michael Mappin and Judy Buchanan-Mappin, long-time coaches and advocates for the sport of cross-country ski racing in Canada, Canmore Nordic Sport Services believes in supporting retailers and high-performance teams across the country that are dedicated to the support and pursuit of excellence.

Biathlon Canada, the governing body for biathlon in the country, oversees the Canadian Championships, Eastern and Western Canadian Championships, and North American Cups held in Canada.
