Solli and Paredi Defend Their FIS Rollerski World Cup Titles

September 18, 2011 (Oroslavje, Croatia) – The winners of the overall 2011 FIS Rollerski World Cup remained unclear until the very last race of the season and this spiced things up for the already popular 180 Free Sprint competition, the season finale, in downtown Oroslavje, Croatia.

Italian Junior Women Rule
Junior ladies class was dominated by the Italian women who secured all three podium places. Lisa Bolzan (ITA) celebrated the sprint victory over compatriots Elisa Fulcheri (ITA) and Anna Bolzan (ITA). Among junior men it was Andrey Melikov (RUS) showing the quickest speed to beat Emanuele Becchis (ITA) in second and Sondre Turvoll Fossli (NOR) in third.

Seppas Fails to qualify – Solli Wins World Cup Title
Sweden’s Hanna Seppas was in the lead of the FIS Rollerski World Cup standings before Sunday’s race. However she failed to qualify to quarter finals and left the door open for runner-up Guro Stroem Solli of Norway. In spite of losing the final to Russia’s Anastasia Voronina (RUS) Solli grabbed the overall World Cup thanks to 80 WC points for second place. Voronina’s compatriot Elena Ektova won the B-Final and took third place.

Italy Takes All
The Italian men won it all absolutely dominating Sunday’s Sprint Free for the men. Emanuele Sbabo beat Folco Pizzutto and third place went to Mirko Ceolan. Simone Paredi (ITA) defended the Crystal Globe and won the Elite men’s Overall FIS Rollerski World Cup title.
