St. Paddy’s Duathlon at Great Glen Trails

March 6, 2008 (Pinkham Notch, NH) – On Sunday, March 16 at 10:00a.m., Great Glen Trails will host the St. Paddy’s Duathlon cross country ski race, featuring the hottest race format on the World Cup circuit.

A cross country ski duathlon is made up of two legs. The first leg is skied using the classic technique, and in the second leg, skiers use skating technique. The clock continues to run as skiers change from classic to skating. The St. Paddy’s Duathlon is a 10k race, with each leg totaling 5km.

This race format has been growing rapidly in popularity at the World Cup level over the last few years. In fact, many top-level manufacturers now make boots specifically designed for the duathlon, since classic and skate boots have significant differences.
