release by FIS XC
May 30, 2012 – Long-distance competition specialist, Stanislav Rezac, was recently selected as the best Czech skier of the 2011/12 season. The award is one of the biggest accolades ever received by the 38-year-old skier. Rezac won the poll thanks to winning the overall FIS Marathon Cup title for the second time, finishing second in the Ski Classics series, and his two big wins, the Jizerska 50 and the König Ludwig Lauf, this season.

Ski jumper, Roman Koudelka, narrowly missed the victory by two votes less than Rezac. Third place went to Alpine skier Krystof Kryzl. Rezac is currently at the training camp in Merano, Italy with his new team Skinfit Racing and could not be present at the ceremony.

“It’s a big surprise for me and great satisfaction. I am sorry I cannot personally accept the prize,” said Rezac. “When I received the invitation I thought, there’s no way I could win this, no matter how hard I try.”

The award was received over by Rezac’s wife Lenka and their two little sons Ales and Tomas who took home the Crystal Crown prize awarded to the winner since 1973.
