February 07, 2014 – With the 55km Canadian Birkie happening near Edmonton, AB this weekend, Start Wax Canada is pleased to provided wax recommendations for the event. We’ll also provide wax recommendations for the Gatineau Loppet as the date nears. Note: Wax recommendation may change based on race day conditions.

BIRKIE WAX RECOMMENDATION – KICK

Long Distances:

• START Base Klister* OR Base Wax Extra – Apply thin layer, heat in, let cool (* use klister if icy conditions)
• START Racing Extra (-2…-8C) – Apply 2 to 4 thin layers as required, cork smooth
• START Racing Super (-7…-15C) – Apply 2 thin layer, cork smooth
• ** Optional:  START Black Magic (-30…+2C) – Apply 1 very thin layer

Short Distances:

• START Base Wax OR Base Wax Extra – Apply thin layer, heat in, let cool
• START RF Blue (-4…-10C) OR Synthetic Blue (-2…-6C) – apply 2 to 4 thin layers as required, cork smooth
• START Synthetic Green (-5…-10C) – Apply 2 thin layers, cork smooth

BASE GLIDE WAX:  Iron in, let cool, scrape & brush well
