Strong 11th for USA’s Bryan Fletcher at Seefeld Nordic Combined Triple – Frenzel Remains Invicible

release by USSA

January 17, 2015 (Seefeld, Austria) – Germany’s Eric Frenzel remained invicible in Seefeld, skiing to a second straight win in the Seefeld Triple. Bryan Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) skied up from 25th in the jump to finish 11th, with the fourth fastest cross country time. Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) was 21st. The mini-tour wraps up Sunday with a two-jump, 15k cross country format.

The key to success that has been eluding the U.S. skiers has been jump hill performance. Today, Fletcher stepped it up and put himself into a better position. “Today was a much better day for me on the jump hill,” said Fletcher. “I was able to put together a solid jump with a strong race and make up my deficit from yesterday. Going into tomorrow, I still have ground to make up but I will be focusing on performing like I did today and see how much more I can climb on the results sheet.” Demong was also solid on the jump, in 21st, but was unable to move up in cross country.

“Good day for Bryan on both sides – jumping and cross country,” said Nordic Combined Head Coach Dave Jarrett. “While it was great to have four guys in the comp today, we were hoping Tay (Taylor Fletcher) and Adam (Loomis) would have made it into the top 30 but the mistakes on the jumping hill compound and are hard to recover from.”

The Seefeld Triple wraps up on Sunday.
