November 8, 2009 (Erzurum, Turkey) – Excitement is brewing for the FISU (International University Sports Games Committee) Winter Universiade 2011 to be held in Erzurum, Turkey, especially for ski jumping. Organizers have not only constructed five hills, from 25m to a normal and large hill, but they’ve also held their 3rd Ski Jumping seminar within 12 months.
Erzurum is located at an altitude of approximately 1,750 meters, surrounded by the Palandöken Mountain range that reaches up to 3,500m. It’s located 400km from the famous biblical mountain of Ararat. The city boasts a university with 45,000 students many of whom are involved in the organization of the Universiade 2011.
