Sue Wemyss Named Ski School Director at Great Glen Trails

December 12, 2007 – (Pinkham Notch, NH) – Olympic cross country skier, Sue Wemyss has been named Ski School Director at Great Glen Trails. As Ski School Director, Wemyss is responsible for coordinating and planning lessons, ensuring all ski clinics at Great Glen Trails are first class and guaranteeing that all students learn to ski better and more efficiently. Wemyss is also developing new programs for both private lessons and children’s lessons.

A member of the U.S. Ski Team from 1983-1986, Sue competed in all four of the cross country races in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarejevo, Yugoslavia finishing 28th in the 20km race. Sue also raced in the World Championships and a number of World Cup races throughout Europe. She finished 11th in a World Cup race in Vsoke Tatry, Czechoslovakia in March of 1984. In 2003, she won two bronze medals at the World Masters Championships in Seefeld, Austria in the 10km and 30km classic races. Along with her racing experience, Sue has coached a number of junior Nordic teams throughout the United States, including working with the U.S. juniors teams that have competed internationally. In 2006, Sue was named to the Professional Ski Instructors of America’s Nordic Development Team.

New this season at Great Glen Trails is a special private lesson package with Wemyss called “Ski with an Olympian.” The package includes 3 1-hour private lessons with Wemyss, which allow skiers to hone specific skills in a one-on-one environment. These lessons are not just for experienced skiers, as all abilities can benefit from this personal attention.
