Sugarloaf Opens Terrain Park

Launches First Ever Jingle Jam

December 7, 2007 (Carrabassett Valley, Maine) – Newschoolers asked and Sugarloaf has delivered by opening one of the season’s first full-size, full-featured terrain parks in the East. Sugarloaf drops the rope on the Stomping Grounds on Saturday, Dec. 8, with more than a dozen features including jumps, rails and jibs.

The Stomping Grounds is the first of several parks planned for the resort as the winter progresses. Snowmaking will begin in Sugarloaf’s signature park, The Yard, in the coming days and weeks.

The park opening is ideal timing for jibbers looking to log some time on the rails in preparation for the first-ever Jingle Jam rail jam on Saturday, Dec. 29. The Jingle Jam is an open jam format event where contestants will vie for prizes on a set of never-before-seen rails and jibs. Sugarloaf will light up The Beach in front of the Sugarloaf Base Lodge and welcome up to 150 rail riders to throw their best tricks to dazzle the judges and audience alike. With more than a foot and a half of new snow this week and excellent snowmaking conditions, Sugarloaf has some of the best December conditions in recent history with more than 63 trails and 25 miles of open terrain.

This weekend skiers and riders can test out the latest skis and snowboards at Sugarloaf’s annual demo days. All the leading manufacturers will be on site to offer guests the chance to try the latest products on snow.
