release by Sugarloaf Resort
March 21, 2008 (Carrabassett Valley, ME) – With eight inches of new snow this week, Sugarloaf, Maine’s largest ski resort and second tallest peak, has topped the 200 inch mark for snowfall this season. This week’s storm puts Sugarloaf at 201 inches, with up to four more inches of snow expected today, and more in the forecast for next week. March is historically Sugarloaf’s snowiest month, with April coming in a close second. Last year the resort received 95 inches of snow in April alone.

“Snowfall this season has been phenomenal,” said Frank Guerriero, Director of Marketing for Sugarloaf. “Topping 200 inches this early is a big milestone for us, and we’re looking forward to even more snow through the end of March and into April.”

With base depths over five feet and more snow expected, Sugarloaf is preparing for an excellent spring season and is expected to remain open into May. Conditions will also be excellent for the 20th Annual Bud Light Reggae Festival April 10-13, Sugarloaf’s biggest event of the season and one of the largest springtime festivals in ski country, featuring more than 10 top reggae bands playing live music day and night.
