November 3, 2009 (Sun Valley, ID) – My name is Colin Rodgers and this winter season my teammates and I will be contributing to the Team Fischer blog here at SkiTrax.com. I have been a part of Team Fischer for six years now and have been ski racing since I could walk. A little bit about my history as a X/C skier- I grew up in northern VT (Westford) and raced in the Bill Koch Youth Ski League there as a middle schooler, then went on to Essex Jct. High School, Holderness School, IL Bevern’ in Kongsberg Norway, Middlebury College, Maine Winter Sports Center and now for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation – whew that is a lot of places!
This is my first entry to date so it is the beginning of a series of posts that will hopefully tell the tale of my path to Vancouver this February! Currently, I am in Ketchum, Idaho tuning up for the upcoming race season. The mountains here are white, but there is no snow on the ground in town. Every night it seems to get colder and colder so I know the racing season is not too far off! I am planning out the remaining days I have available to punish myself with time trials and intervals before we are givin’ it for real on the race course in West Yellowstone.
Some of my favorite tune up workouts include – our 2-minute double pole TT in uphill terrain and 1-hr threshold skating in rolling terrain with 1-min speed shifts on appropriate climbs. Those workouts will help you get dialed in! Remember to throw down when you are supposed to go hard and keep it under control when you are supposed to!
I look forward to telling you all about my next few weeks of race preparation in my upcoming post! You can also follow me on my own website- teamcolinrodgers.com. Get ready to ski fast! – Colin
