U.S. Biathlon Names Teams for Upcoming IBU World Championships

February 24, 2019 (New Gloucester, Maine) – U.S. Biathlon’s International Competition Committee has announced the rosters for the upcoming IBU Biathlon World Championships in Oestersund, Sweden, March 7-17. The squad has three start spots in the women’s races, and four start spots in the men’s events.

The women’s roster consists of four members from the 2018 U.S. Olympic Team: Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.), Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Joanne Reid (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Emily Dreissigacker (Morrisville, Vt.). Dunklee won a silver medal in the mass start at the last IBU World Championship held in 2017.

On the men’s roster are two-time Olympians Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H.) and Leif Nordgren (Marine, Minn.). They will be joined by three newcomers to the world championships: Jake Brown (Saint Paul, Minn.), Max Durtschi (Ketchum, Idaho) and Alex Howe (Gilford, N.H.).

Competition gets underway on March 7 with the mixed relay – below is the full race schedule:

Sat., March 9 – Men’s 10km sprint
Sun., March 10 – Women’s 10km pursuit & men’s 12.5km pursuit

Wed., March 13 – Men’s 20km individual
Thurs., March 14 – Single mixed relay
Sat., March 16 – Women’s 4x6km relay & men’s 4×7.5km relay
Sun., March 17 – Women’s 12.5km mass start & men’s 15km mass start
