November 27, 2011 (Ostersund, Sweden) – Following the conclusion of today’s IBU Cup competition in Ostersund, US Biathlon has announced the following roster of athletes who will compete in the IBU World Cup Ostersund, November 30-December 4, 2011.

– Laura Spector (Lenox, MA)
– Lanny Barnes (Durango, CO)
– Susan Dunklee (Barton, VT)

Men
– Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, NY)
– Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, NY)
– Leif Nordgren (Marine, MN)
– Jay Hakkinen (Kasiloff, AK)

“The team had a great summer and fall of training and has shown steady progress,” said Max Cobb, President & CEO of US Biathlon upon today’s announcement. “We would have liked to have more time on snow before the first World Cup events. Natural snow finally came to Ostersund today, and while it was only a few inches of heavy wet snow it really does give everyone a smile to finally see the ground become white.”

“The course in Ostersund has been prepared with snow that was stockpiled last winter and covered with a tarp and wood-chips to keep it through the summer. Without that we would not be able to have any training or racing in Ostersund this November,” he added.
