June 25, 2008 – Retirement for US Nordic Combined star, Todd Lodwick, has been short lived. The Steamboat Springs, CO native retired at the end of the 2006 but now has his eye on a medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic games reports the Steamboat Pilot and Today. “I don’t want to look back and regret not trying,” Lodwick said. “If I don’t make a move now, I may never get the chance again.”

Lodwick, now 31, a World Cup and Olympic veteran will have to earn his spot back on the US team. He can’t be named to the team until next spring and will spend this season racing the Continental Cup circuit to regain a spot on the World Cup.

In 1994, at just 16 years of age Lodwick competed at the first of his four Olympic Games (1998, 2002, 2006). At the 1996 World Junior Championships he was the Nordic Combined gold medalist and went on to record multiple top ten finishes on the World Cup and at Olympic competitions over his 13-year career. His best ever Olympic result came in the inaugural sprint at the 2002 Salt Lake City games where he placed fifth.

Currently, Lodwick is training with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and is being coached by Todd Wilson. For more information on this story Steamboat Pilot and Today.
