Andy Newell led three U.S. men into the top 15 Sunday in Vernon, B.C., in a World Cup freestyle sprint. Newell finished 11th with Chris Cook scoring his first World Cup points by finishing 12th while Torin Koos was 14th. It was the first time three U.S. men finished in the top 15 of a World Cup sprint.
Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined News
In Harrachov, CZE, Alan Alborn was the lone American to qualify for both World Cup competitions over the weekend, finishing 34th in Sunday’s event. Alborn jumped 119.5m, good for 101.1 points. Next up are two comps Dec. 17-18 in Engelberg, SUI.
