December 19, 2014 (Pokljuka, Slovenia) – The USA’s Lowell Bailey continues to impress as the Lake Placid biathlete shot clean again hitting 10 of 10 targets to finish at 54.3s behind winner Anton Shipulin (Russia) who also delivered a perfect score as well on the range for the victory.

Dominik Landertinger (AUT) claimed second at 11.9 seconds also shooting clean as did Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen (NOR) who took 3rd at 24.1s behind Shipulin.

“I’m happy with the way my shooting has gone the first part of this season,” said Bailey. “I changed some things over the summer and it’s nice to see that work paying off on the range. I can still improve on ski speed to where I will be knocking on the door of the podium.”

American Tim Burke will be joining his teammate Bailey in Saturday’s pursuit with his 26th place finish with two penalties and Leif Nordgren from Marine, Minn. made the cut as well placing 53rd with one penalty.

Team Canada’s Nathan Smith was the top Canuck in 25th with one penalty as teammate Brendan Green also suffered a missed target finishing in 34th at 1:34.9 behind the winner. Fellow Canuck Scott Perras had a tough day ending up 73rd with 4 penalties, Marc-Andre Bedard (Can) was 80th with 3 penalties and Russell Currier (USA) finished 96th with 6 penalties.

“It’s going to be a really tight and exciting pursuit race tomorrow and the name of the game will be putting together a good time on the range,” Bailey added. “I know this course pretty well and it suits my style.”
