December 14, 2014 (Livigno, Italy) – The new race formula, which debuted on Saturday at La Sgambeda, has been appreciated by the athletes. Victory of the Team Coop that won on the Team Santander and on the Russian Marathon Team. Tomorrow grand finale with La Sgambeda Classic, 35 km in classical technique to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Livigno’s race.

The new race Swix Ski Classics ProTeam Tempo, that debuted today in Livigno, has been defined by the athletes as fun and full of adrenaline. The new formula was strongly wanted by Swix Ski Classics in order to anticipate the racing season and also to have innovative features that can attract the attention from both the public and the media. Today’s race, in fact, was live broadcasted on 60 televisions in Northern Europe.

On a 15 km track, the ProTeam follows a format already tested in cycling, with the teams, male and female, departing at 3 minutes intervals from each other. The first have been the women, racing in conditions of good visibility and compact snow. The final time was calculated by adding the times of the two best male athletes and the best women of each team.

The victory has been achieved by the strong Team Coop composed by Seraina Boner, Eide Morten Pedersen, Bill Impola, Jimmie Johnson and Oskar Svaerden with the final time of 1:48: 22.715.

The second place went to Team Santander with Andreas Nygaard, Andres Aukland, Holly Brooks and Jerry Ahrlin with 1:49:18.544. Third position we found the Russian Marathon Team with Yulia Tikhonova, Polina Ermoshina, Alexey Dvoskin, Ivan Arteev and Andrey Tyuterev in 1:50:41.487.

To note the 14th place of the Scame Ski Trab Team Livigno with the twins Nicolas and Thomas Bormolini, who finished in 2:01:27.360.

“We had fun – said Oskar Svaerden of Team Coop – we approached the new race formula with a positive spirit and the fact of competing in the team has been an incentive. We trained in Livigno for a week and I must say that the organizers have prepared a very good track, and is not easy to find such conditions in this period when the snow is scarce in many other resorts.”

All the individual Swix Ski Classic athletes who competed in the Prologue of Livigno, will get individual bonus points that will be added to the first individual Swix Ski Classics event.

The program of La Sgambeda continues this afternoon with La MiniSgambeda and tomorrow with the Classic race, the one that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the event with 35 km in classical technique and in which there is an increase in altitude from the area of Forcola to Alpe Vago, more specifically from km 12.5 to km 20. In this stretch the gap increases from 1900 meters of Forcola to 2000 meters of Alpe Vago area, up to 2100 mt on the Grasso degli Agnelli area, and then decreased gradually till reaching the technical track “Marianna Longa”.
