USSA Junior Olympics for Nordic Combined and Special Jumping – Feb 22-26

February 22, 2011 (Salisbury, CT) – Formally known as the USSA Junior Championships, the Junior Olympics are the premier national event for jumpers ages 12-17 who showcase their skills over five days of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined competitions. Featuring more than 50 athletes from the US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Divisions—Central, Eastern, Intermountain, and Rocky Mountain—the Junior Olympics are the final qualifying step toward international competitions, including the Winter Olympic Games.

WHO
Hosted for the first time by the Salisbury Winter Sports Association, the 2011 Junior Olympics are sanctioned by the USSA and held annually through a rotation of the divisions jump facilities. Following last year’s J.O. in Steamboat Springs, CO, the Eastern division was selected to host and awarded SWSA the commission based on its completion of a new world-class 65-meter steel jump.

Tuesday, Feb 22, 6:30 pm
– Opening Ceremony, Scoville Library lawn, Salisbury, CT

Wednesday, Feb 24

– Training at Satre Hill and Mohawk Ski Area

Thursday, Feb 25: Competition begins

-Satre Hill ski jumping, from 9 to 11 am
-Nordic Combined, Mohawk Ski Area, 3:30 to 5 pm

Friday, Feb 26
Back up day for competitions; Elimination Jump Under the Lights, 6 pm

Saturday, Feb 26, Nordic Combined and Special Jumping:

– Satre Hill, 9 am to 12 noon;
– Cross Country Team Relay Races at Mohawk Ski Area, 3:30 pm
– Closing Ceremonies, Scoville Library, 8:30 pm
