December 20 (Bolton Valley, VT) – UVM's Lowell Bailey set the pace around the mountainous 10km course at Bolton Valley. Skating to an 11 second win in the Banknorth Eastern Cup race, just ahead of former Olympian, Marc Gilbertson of Hyde Park, and 12 seconds ahead of UVM teammate, Ethan Foster.

In the women's race it was Team Atomic's Dorcas Wonsavage, from Farmington, ME, just ahead of Dartmouth College's Alison Crocker and Green Mountain Valley School's junior phenom, Laura Spector.

The real winner of the day was Isaac Noyes, who skis for Craftsbury Nordic Ski Club, who skied with a broken right thumb and a smile on his face. Noyes came in 16th in his age group (16-17).
