Villeneuve Fundraiser

by Sam Laskaris

For the second straight year, Formula One race car driver Jacques Villeneuve will lend his support to a 24-hour ski marathon at Quebec's Mont-Tremblant. The event, dubbed Grand Prix 24 Heures de Tremblant, will be held Dec. 13-15.

The skiing portion will be held Dec. 14-15. There are also various après-ski activities planned, including outdoor concerts. Last year's event, which included approximately 700 participants, raised more than $300,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This year's participants, who will be on four- to six-person teams, will once again be skiing around the clock and raising money for this foundation.

Both skiers and snowboarders are welcome to take part. The registration fee is $75 per person or $3,000 for corporate teams. To register, go to www.tremblant.ca.
