January 09, 2015 (Oberhof, Germany) – Wind and rain made for icy and challenging conditions for the women’s 7.5km Sprint won by Veronica Vitkova (Czech Republic) who scored a career-first individual World Cup victory with two penalties. Italy claimed the next two spots on the podium with Dorothea Wierer (22:48.8/+1) finishing second and Nicole Gontier (22:59.1/+0), one of the two athletes to post clean rounds, placing third.
Susan Dunklee posted the top finish for Team USA placing 21st at 1:22.9 with three penalties while her teammate Hannah Dreissigacker was one of only 18 competitors to go clean in the prone position and finished 37th with two penalties.
Canada’s Rosanna Crawford was 46th with four penalties at 2:29 behind while her teammate Megan Heinicke was 56th with five penalties at 2:56.6 behind the winner. Veteran Zina Kocher finished 58th at 3:05.1 with six penalties and American Annelies Cook was 62nd at 3:24 with five penalties. Emma Lunder (Can) was 92nd with 7 penalties while Julia Ransom DNF’d.
