WADA Closes in on Breakthrough for Accurate HGH Test – Andrus Veerpalu in Sochi

February 06, 2014 – After difficulties implementing an accurate test that saw Estonian XC skier Andrus Veerpalu cleared on a technicality of suspected Human Growth Hormone (HGH) use, WADA is close to getting a watertight test in place for detecting the banned substance, according to an article on timesargus.com.

Testing for HGH was suspended in March of 2013 by the same Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling that saw Veerpalu’s three-year ban overturned, because statistical parameters for the test results could produce false positives.

Veerpalu, who was cleared following the CAS ruling, is expected to be in Sochi for the Olympic Games, as he coaches Kazakhstan skier Alexey Poltoranin.
