Wanted: Assistant Coach for High-Performance Athletes

August 12, 2008 (Calgary, AB) – Rocky Mountain Racers Ski Club, based in Calgary, Alberta, is looking for a dynamic and energetic assistant coach to work with the head coach to deliver training, race support and development opportunities to high-performance biathlon and cross-country skiing athletes. The coaching team will provide technical skills, guidance, and motivation in a way that enables athletes to achieve their full potential over the long term.

Candidates should be entry-level coaches or experienced athletes with a desire to take their involvement in sport to a different level. Knowledge of classic ski waxing is a definite asset, as is enrollment in a coaching certificate program. Candidates will have strong organization skills, are comfortable working with athletes of various ages and will be committed to the development of the athletes.

The role is full time and based in Calgary and the Bow Corridor. Much of the training will occur in Canmore to take advantage of the shooting facilities and trail system at the Canmore Nordic Centre. The assistant coach will be expected to have personal transportation available.

Rocky Mountain Racers has been very successful in developing young athletes in biathlon and cross-country skiing in Canada, routinely putting athletes on the podium and onto national teams.
