Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club is Looking for a Volunteer Coordinator

release by the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club

August 19, 2016 (Whitehorse, YT) – The Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for the 2016/17 season, potentially longer. This position is a volunteer position (no pay), so we are looking for somebody who is willing to donate some of his/her time for the coming year.

We believe that this work will take on average about 5 hours per week, the details will be determined by the coordinator. It is likely that more time will be spent initially during the season (September to November), and less time for the remainder of the season.  You will be quite free to determine when you wish to do this work – it could be done daytime or evenings or weekends.

The job duties will be to identify other ski club volunteers that can assist with ski club activities. The volunteers can be identified through the membership applications, through the ski club e-news, advertising on the website, and through other similar means. The type of ski club activities that may need volunteers include organizing and delivering ski programs and events (ski swap, Air North Challenge, EDI Hut to Hut, CMS Wax n’Snax, ski races), trail maintenance and grooming, administrative, policy or similar tasks as required.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be working with ski club staff, Board members, and ski club members in doing this work. You will also be involved in developing and maintaining a spreadsheet or database to organize members that have agreed to be a volunteer, so some familiarity with such software programs would be an asset.

If you are interested in taking on this role, or if you would like additional information, please contact the ski club by September 12, 2016 at info.xcskiwhitehorse@gmail.com, or at (867) 668-4477.
