Women’s Ski Jumping in Sochi 2014?

release by FIS
July 08, 2010 – The Olympic Games are undoubtedly one of the main highlights in the international sporting calendar. At the XXI Olympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010, a total of 86 Olympic medal events were carried out. Of those, 40 were staged in FIS disciplines. The only Olympic debut at the Vancouver 2010 Games was that of the ladies’ and men’s ski cross events which turned out to be great successes, delivering some of the most spectacular battles for Olympic medals and appealing especially to the younger generations.

Given the success of the new Olympic events, the 47th International Ski Congress in Antalya (TUR) decided to request the IOC Executive Board to consider the inclusion of four new events in the Olympic Winter Games program. These events are: the women’s Ski Jumping competition, the nations’ team competition in Alpine Skiing (both following the decision of the 45th International Ski Congress in 2006), the men’s and ladies’ Freestyle half-pipe, and the men’s and ladies’ Snowboard slopestyle competitions.
