World Cup Biathlon Sprint – Hakkinen 14th, Leguellec 17th

December 13, 2008 (Hochfilzen, Austria) – The USA’s Jay Hakkinen placed 14th at the World Cup Biathlon 10km Sprint on Friday in Hochfilzen, Austria while Jean-Phillipe Leguellec of Shannon, Quebec was Canada’s top performer again in 17th. According to CBC sports, “I just repeated the same as last week by skiing fast and shooting clean,” said Leguellec, who posted his career-best 13th- and 17th-place results a week ago in Sweden. I am happy with the result, but I know I am capable of better, which is promising.”

Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen won his second consecutive sprint event. In the women’s event Simone Hauswald of Germany won for her first World Cup title in her career. For more on this story click here. For complete results click here.
