February 08, 2013 (Ottawa, ON) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is seeking to fill the position of IT Coordinator. The IT Coordinator will be responsible for providing on-site day-to-day support for the office users and servers. Responsibilities for this hands-on position will include installation, maintenance, and upgrading of hardware/software systems. Problem-solving skills and people service skills are essential.A successful IT Coordinator will apply his/her knowledge of Microsoft system administration, networks, Microsoft server and desktop architectures and technologies.

Work is performed on-site at our offices during normal business hours (Mon-Fri) as well as some evenings and weekends as required for maintenance windows.

The ideal candidate will bring, in addition to their technical skills, a passion for solving challenges and be motivated in taking critical projects from start to finish.

CONDITIONS OF WORK

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Coordinator must:
– Provide technical support and assistance to users located in the office or on the road.
– Resolve a variety of technical support issues including desktops, laptops, peripheral, and smart phones.
– Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain server hardware and Microsoft server operating systems.
– Setup, monitor, and support users in MS Active Directory and Exchange.
– Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain Microsoft workstation operating systems and software.
– Apply problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve ;technical incidents and problems.
– Ensure timely and reliable system administration ;procedures, such as backup and/or recovery.
– Maintain documentation of all systems being administered.

SKILLS
– Minimum two (2) years experience installing, monitoring, upgrading, and maintaining Microsoft operating systems;
– Completed a post-secondary program, preferably in computer science;
– Minimum one (1) year experience setting up and managing users through MS Active Directory;
– Minimum one (1) year experience managing MS Exchange servers and users;
– Knowledge and configuration experience with DHCP, DNS, and VPN;
– Demonstrates good communication skills both written and verbal;
– Is detail-oriented with good organizational and documentation skills.

ASSETS

ROLE
Executive Director (reports to President and Chairman of the Board)

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategy/High level planning
– Oversee the short and longer term planning of Fast and Female programming (events, web-based programming, target groups ¡V youth, coaches, parents, ambassadors).
– Interfaces with Fast and Female Founder and Board to map out a short-term and long term strategies.
–  Plans out strategic initiatives and ensures optimal alignment with the interests of all Fast and Female stakeholders (participants, sponsors, donors).
– Develops strategic relations with key NSOs for the development and execution of programming.

Governance
– Plan out annual calendar of meetings.
– Prepare board meeting agendas and compile minutes.
– Prepare board meeting documents (management review, financials).

Finances
– Develops and maintains annual organizational budget as well as event-based budgets.
– Tracks and monitors all income and expenses on a daily basis.
– Issue cheques for invoices due.
– Interfaces with accountant to produce quarterly financial statements for internal purposes with the Board.
– Maintain appropriate relations with third party financial services (Moneris, PayPal, Eventbrite) for the collection of funds.

Programming
– Manage annual programming calendar.
– Establishes key contacts with local event hosting stakeholders.
– Effectively lead the planning, execution and debrief of Fast and Female events.

– Develop a strategy and oversee the successful execution of the sponsor-raising and sponsor-retention program (maintain and update sponsor pitch documents, lead pitching initiatives, maintain relations with sponsors, identify prospective sponsors, ensure all contractual agreements with sponsors are fulfilled).
– Develop a strategy and oversee the successful execution of the donor-raising and donor-retention program (maintain and update donor pitch documents, lead pitching initiatives, maintain relations with donors, identify prospective donors, produce reporting documents to meet donors¡¦ needs and expectations).
– Develop a strategy and oversee the successful execution of in-king supplier contributors.
– Develop a strategy and oversee the successful execution of event-based fundraising initiatives (Sports Day in Canada, VIP cocktails, silent auctions…).

Office and Operations
– Interface with third party to secure office space.

The Technical Programs Coordinator is a key staff position within the organization and as such provides the overall coordination aspect of all biathlon sport development programs (coaching, officials and competition programs). The TPC ensures that Sport Development programs apply sound business practices, operates according to Biathlon Canada, IBU, Sport Canada and COC policies and consistently delivers a high standard of athlete, coach and officials satisfaction.

The applicant should have the following experience / abilities:

March 28, 2012 (Ottawa, ON) – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence. It is responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including Canada’s participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games and a wide variety of programs that promote the Olympic Movement in Canada through cultural and educational means. The COC is looking to fill one part time contract with a Results Specialist. The contract duration is from April 2012 to February 2014.

General Purpose
The individual’s primary responsibilities will be to track Canadian athletes’ performances as well as other nations’ performances at World Championships, and other International events; produce various statistical analyses and provide such information to the Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Olympic Team, and its partners as required. The workload will vary from week to week. It is estimated that, averaged over the course of the contract, time spent per week will be approximately 0.5-1.0 day per week, along with time spent at seminars and onsite at the Olympic and Pan American Games. This position is not based out of any specific city or COC office, however being based in Ottawa is an asset.

Responsibilities
Pre-Games:
– Provide support with various statistical analyses as required in the lead-up to the Olympic Games.
– Assist with the compilation and centralization of the various results and analyses by sourcing information directly or through COC partners (Sport Canada and Own The Podium)
– Respond to information requests from the COC’s various departments, specifically the Communications department, specific to athletes and sports in the lead-up to the Olympic Games.
– Be available for training on the COC’s Zeus Database.
– Assist with the preparation of the Canadian schedule of participation for the Olympic Games for initial upload to Zeus.
– Attend the Team Operations Preparation Seminar (approx 3 months prior to Games)

At-Games:
– Track and manage all Canadian Olympic Team results, competition schedule and statistics.
– Ensure that Canadian Olympic Team schedule and results are current, requiring multiple daily updates and a final revised version at the end of each day.
– Provide information to the Canadian Olympic Team and partners as required.
– Liaise with Sport Services Officers, Press Chief and Assistant Press Chief in providing timely and relevant information for bulletins, daily results highlights, and media briefings.
– Create and pull reports from Zeus for Sport Services staff and Communications staff as required.
– Attend daily communications meetings.
– Contribute to the results sections of the mid and post-Games press briefing and/or final Games report developed by Sport Services

Knowledge and Skill Required
Knowledge requirements include:
– Required proficiency in excel and with databases
– Canadian Sport System (asset)
– Technical knowledge of the various sports on the Olympic program (asset)

About Own the Podium
Own the Podium (OTP) is an innovative and collaborative initiative without precedent in Canadian sport. It was created to bring together the key parties involved in leading and funding excellence in Canadian sport, with specific emphasis on achieving excellence at Summer and Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Scope of Position:
The position’s central mandate is to provide expertise, assistance and leadership to targeted Olympic and Paralympic summer sports in the ongoing implementation and assessment of an integrated sport science and medicine program. The individual will also assist in establishing service contracts between Canadian Sport Centres (CSC’s) and OTP, and National Sport Organizations (NSO’s) and CSC’s. In addition, the individual will assist with managing summer applied sport research projects. The position will report to the Director of Sport Science, Medicine and Innovation for Own the Podium, and will work collaboratively with the Director of Summer Sport, OTP High Performance Advisors , CSC’s, and technology and research specialists.

The ideal candidate will have extensive applied experience and success in sport science and sport medicine programming along with significant experience in leadership positions in Canadian or international sport systems. The successful candidate will have worked successfully and extensively within the Olympic and/or Paralympic sport environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Work in collaboration with OTP High Performance Advisors (HPA’s) to ensure that the targeted summer Olympic and Paralympic sports have an optimal integrated Sport Science/Sport Medicine (SS/SM) plan
2. Work in collaboration with Canadian Sport Centres to assist targeted NSO’s to receive quality services based on solid IST plans, and to establish service agreements between NSO’s and either OTP or CSCs.
3. Provide expertise and mentoring to targeted sports in the area of sport science, sports medicine, innovation, and the planning and periodization of training.
4. In collaboration with the OTP Director of SS/SM/I, contribute to the development of a national plan to enhance SS/SM and technology programming and services for targeted sports, which aligns with CSC initiatives.
5. Work with the OTP Director of SS/SM/I to promote the development, implementation and evaluation of a strong network of SS/SM professionals both within the CSC network and external to CSC’s.
6. Participate as a member in the National Sport Science Advisory Committee.

Qualifications
– University graduate degree in a sport science field with preference for a doctoral degree education.
– Over ten years experience with a proven record of success as a senior leader in the Canadian sport system and/or other successful international sport systems.
– Previous experience working at a multi-sport organization is an asset.
– Significant successful experience in the design and implementation of sport science/medicine services to high performance athletes in preparation for performance success at Olympic and Paralympic Games.
– Computer skills and knowledge of the MS Office Suite is required.
– Bilingualism is a preferred asset.

Junior Development Coach
Team Hardwood is seeking to hire a cross country ski coach to lead our Junior Development Squad, one of the largest and most successful Midget racing teams in Ontario. This is a part-time position, with the majority of work being done on Saturdays in the fall and winter. The Junior Development Squad coach will also work closely with the coach of our Senior Development Squad. The ideal candidate will have at least NCCP Level I coaching certification or equivalent experience.

The Junior Development Squad coach will have the opportunity to be involved in one of the top racing clubs in Canada, one that routinely places athletes on the Ontario Ski Team and in National Training Centres, and consistently ranks in the top ten at Nationals. The entire team (including the Junior and Senior Development Squads and Masters) comprises nearly 60 athletes and is supported by dozens of enthusiastic and committed parent volunteers.

The successful candidate will work out of Hardwood Ski and Bike, a full service cross country ski and mountain bike centre located near Barrie, Ontario. The position also offers an opportunity to be mentored by the Senior Development Squad coach, as well as Jack Sasseville (former national team coach); and Petr Jakl (Head Coach, Southern Ontario Training Centre).

Responsibilities:
The Junior Development Squad coach is accountable for all aspects the delivery and growth of the Junior Development Squad, which is aimed at athletes in the Learning-to-Train stage of development, with the goal of preparing them for graduation to our Senior Development Squad. In particular, the coach will be responsible for:

– conducting Saturday training sessions from September to March;
– coaching and waxing support at local races and some O-Cup races;
– helping the Senior Development Squad coach to organize and deliver the SOD High Performance Training Camp in late August, and
– assisting with team fundraising, marketing and recruitment initiatives.

The Junior Development Squad coach reports to the Board of Directors of the Hardwood Hills Nordic Development Centre (HHNDC), aka Team Hardwood, an incorporated non-profit organization.

– mentoring the Junior Development Squad coach and leading parent volunteers, and
– ensuring that team equipment and waxing supplies are properly maintained.
